This months project involved converting a spacious utility room in to a combined WC shower room and utility! You can see from the photo on the left, that the utility room had excess space so how better to make use of that space with the addition of a luxury downstairs shower room and toilet! The project involved my initially surveying the site, taking measurements and drawing up a plan that would work best for my client! The precise positioning of the partition wall was crucial to ensure everything would fit in exactly as planned and that there would be ample space for the shower room to function properly! There were several challenges along the way, with the first being to locate the soil stack which was hidden inside the boxed in area you see on the left hand wall, where I needed to insert new drainage for the shower tray, toilet and basin. The project came with additional hidden challenges sourcing radiator pipes etc, but gradually they were overcome one by one! The new shower room consists of a low level 800 x 800 mm shower tray, 600 mm basin vanity unit with floating basin bowl, 600 x 1200 mm towel radiator and close coupled modern toilet. 1200 x 300 mm ceramic marble effect wall tiles were installed complimented by 600 x 300 mm porcelain grain effect floor tiles. The marble effect white wall tiles hugely compliment the gold fittings inclusive of shower enclosure, basin tap, shower mixer, radiator and accessory holders. On the utility side, a stackable washer and dryer tower was installed with bolt on storage cupboards, making the absolute most of the space available!
